A quarter of a million real estate sales in the first month of 2023
A remarkable progress in the rate of real estate sales in the first month of the current year 2023, achieving the highest number in 3 years
According to the official data published by the Turkish Statistical Authority, apartment sales in Turkey during the first month of 2023 were quite strong. The total number of apartment sales during January 2023 reached approximately 249,852 transactions, with an income of 4 billion 131 million 727 Turkish liras. This figure represents the highest number of first-month sales in the past three years.
Istanbul is at the forefront of the best-selling states:
Istanbul, Turkey's most populous city, emerged as the state with the highest number of apartment sales during January 2023, with 17,415 units sold. This figure accounts for 17.8% of total apartment sales throughout Turkey during the same period. Ankara, the capital city, came in second place with 8,808 apartments sold, followed by Antalya with 5,578 units sold. On the other hand, the states with the lowest number of apartment sales during the same period were Hakkari with 23 apartments sold, followed by Ardahan with 24 units, and Tunceli with only 42 apartments sold.
New and Used Apartments Sales Rates:
When considering new apartments, 27,532 units were sold during the first month of 2023, showing a 1.2% increase over the previous year. Meanwhile, sales of used apartments during the same period reached 70,176, a 14.8% increase compared to the same period in the previous year. The percentage of used apartments sold during this period accounted for 71.8% of the total apartment sales in Turkey.
Sales To Foreigners:
In terms of apartment sales to foreigners, 4,161 apartments were purchased during January 2023, representing a slight decrease of 0.6% compared to the same period in the previous year. The sales of apartments to foreigners accounted for 4.3% of total apartment sales throughout Turkey during this period. Antalya was the most popular destination for foreign buyers, with 1592 apartments sold. Istanbul followed closely with 1380 apartments sold, and Mersin came in third with 331 apartments sold.
It is worth noting that the Turkish Statistical Authority and the General Directorate of Land Registry and Land Survey published this data. These figures are indicators of Turkey's real estate market's strength and show a promising outlook for investors and homeowners. The Turkish government has been working diligently to improve the country's real estate sector, which has contributed significantly to Turkey's economic growth
