Statistics on real estate sales in Turkey in August of the current year 2023

122 thousand and 91 homes were sold throughout Turkey during the month of August...
Home sales across Turkey fell by 1.1% in August compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 122,91.

Istanbul had the highest share in housing sales, with sales amounting to 17,408 homes, at a rate of 14.3%,  followed by Istanbul Ankara, with 11,077 homes sold, at a rate of 9.0%, then Izmir, with 6,504 homes sold, at a rate of 5.3%.
The provinces with the lowest number of house sales are Ardahan with 39 houses, Hakkari with 67 houses, and Artvin with 139 houses.
Overall, home sales fell by 15.5% from January to August from a year ago, to 797,418.

Mortgaged home sales amounted to 16,375, a decrease of 26.1% in August compared to the same month of the previous year, while sales of other homes across Turkey increased by 4.3% in August compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 105,716. The share of other sales in total housing sales was 86.6%. Its sales in the period from January to August decreased by 11.9% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 644,980.

The number of direct home sales across Turkey also decreased by 9.5% in August compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 35,310.
The share of direct home sales in total home sales was 28.9%, reaching 238,109 in the period from January to August, a decrease of 13.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.

In contrast, used home sales across Turkey rose by 2.7% in August compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 86,781,  71.1% of total home sales.
Overall, used home sales decreased by 16.2% in the period from January to August compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 559,309.

Home sales to foreigners also fell by 42.0% in August compared to the same month of the previous year, to 3,58.
The share of housing sales to foreigners in total housing sales in August reached 2.5%.


Istanbul came first in housing sales to foreigners with 1,066 homes sold, followed by Antalya with 919 homes sold, then Mersin with 248 homes sold.
Housing sales to foreigners fell by 43.6% in the January-August period compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 25,134.

According to the nationalities of the country, most home sales were made to citizens of the Russian Federation.


In August, citizens of the Russian Federation bought 733 homes from Turkey, followed by citizens of Iran with 342 homes, Iraqis with 220 homes, and citizens of Kazakhstan with 141 homes, respectively.
